Finally this project finished. I didn't know well about imovie but now I learned it and it's fun. But it was not easy one because it was completely new one for us and we should learn each technical skill so it was pretty tough but I like it. After watching other group's movies, wow they were amazing. There were so pretty good work. From evaluationg other people's work, I learned a lot. This project was very impressive.

Hey Everyone!
I am extremely pleased with the result of our imovie, along with all of the other imovies in our class. Great Job everyone! I just wanted to say that I still cannot believe what the finished product looks like, it is so cool to know that we created our own movies. My group members and I worked really hard and I am very proud of our finished product! Thanks Liberty, Gary, and Hassan, I couldn't have done it without you all! It would have been helpful to have a real peer review and our movies would have been even better, but they still turned out awesome. This was a extremely beneficial project we did and Im so happy with it!
Everyone did great and I can't wait to see what Carrie's class put together!

About our gourp's project

Even though our group has no interview, we do have enough wonderful pictures and text to show our thesis. We took some pictures by ourselves: the empty playground, the classroom, the books about ADHD..We focus on selecting pictures and how to arrange the pictures. Our imovie is easy to understand. We use one song throughout the movie to make our movie fluent, and the music is so fitable. I'm satisfied with our group's project.

Arielle Bryant- Post for IMovie

In my group, we are finalizing the imovie, and it was very successful. Now we are ready to share our production with our class, and Carrie's class.

Imovie expercience

I liked taking my paper and turning it into a digital movie. Its fun and a good way to let your reader know what your paper is about. I hope to do this project again one day, and I enjoyed the expericence with this digital movie project and looking foward in doing it again.

My Personal Experience

This imovie project was kind of over wheleming to me personally. It started off fine but I think once we started working on it more than what we were, my frustration started to show. I enjoyed working with my gropu it was just the project overall was a lot when we got done to the filming and editing and adding stuff. I did learn A LOT with doing this project though. I wouldnt be mad if I didnt have another project like this for a while lol but I did enjoy it.

Almost Done!

Doing this imovie was a very interesting and exciting project. My group didnt have much trouble with it once we understood completely what we were doing and how to work the imovie. You could tell we were kind of getting frustrated but we still had to maintain sanitiy if we wanted our project to be great! I cant wait til we can show this project to our other friends and family to show them something new we learned how to do besides reading and writing.........

Tons of Problems!!

During these two weeks, we have problems in many issues:

1- When we video-typed by our camera, we could not upload the file to imovie.
2-We created a part of the movie by a flash player. Unfortunately, imovie did not accept the formate of our file, so we were not able to upload the file.
3-One of the video clips did work well! The imovie only runs the sounds of the file without its picture.
4-Today, the writing center closed at 2 p.m., so we could not work for a long period to finish up our project.

As you read, we have a lot of difficulties, so I wish if you will be able to finish it by Monday which is almost impossible!

Hello guys.
I think most people done their projects. That's great! We also almost done our project, but when
we went to Bessey Hall today, we couldn't do much because Bessey Hall closed at 2:10. Anyway, we tried to find another way and then finally found the solution. Thanks to a student from other class, we knew that there is some computers to use for weekends. Hopefully, we'll finish our project well like other groups.

Our group has finished our movie, Thank God. It has been a nerve recking, only because we had such a short time to get the movies done. We didn't get the video cameras till a week after we were supposed to.

We are finally done with the iMovie, and I can now stop obsessing about this project. We still have to do the movie poster, but I really dont want to think about that right now.

MSU Union?

This week

Luckily, we have done most of the shooting last week, this week was basicly easier than last one.
The thing I don't really like was the flyer~we could simply print one for each group~~that would be much cheaper~however, we are doing this project with 0 budget~If we print 50 color copies in the Lib~that will be $0.5 for each page. and the total will be $25. some group may have more than one page flyer~goddess~

Our movie is almost done

Our movie is almost done this afternoon, we added the music and text.
I felt our movie became much better after we added the music.
This project is really fun, I knew little about imovie before, but now I wanna have an apple laptop to do more imovies after this project!

Tough..

I am enjoying creating my partner and I movie..however,
it is tough to check in and out every single day and the time, at 9 am, when I must return it.
when I am late to return, then one of staffs call me and say "you need to return."
I know I need to return but I have a class during that time..
and it is hard for me (I think everyone) to wake up before 9 a.m and return it.
My partner and I are done with using the video camera..so there is no worry now.

I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed creating my imovie. When I got the jist of things it was so easy to prepare the clips ass music and also easy to do voice overs.I believe that working with the macs was also a great experience, because now I can work a mac and also a pc. Although my group and I were going through some technical difficulties we still pulled it together in the end. Some advice for the future would be that if you have any files that you would like to make apart of your imovie you probably will have to convert them first. So its always safe to bring a junk drive so that some one who knows how to convert the pictures or clip art can do so successfully!!..Also please dont export your movies because they will not be able to be worked on any more!!!! My Group's imovie

My group is presenting our rough draft imovie today because we did not get a chance to go yesterday. Hopefully we get really good feedback from peer review to help us make our project better. I can't wait until we present our final project I think it will be great. The Writing Center yesterday was so much fun, it seems like all the groups are working really hard. Everybody imovies are really coming along really well keep the good work up guys.

Watch movies

Yesterday we watched some of our classmates' movies. They are good, some of them are well organized, some of them have good transitions, and some of them are really interesting. Our group also finished our rough draft. Since this is the rough draft, so many groups not finished yet, and our group also have not finish yet. I really hope to see the finally movie. I believe they must be wonderful.

Our Movie

We finished most of our interviews this week, and have started on filming out movie. The program that should be used for imovie is only found in Mac computers. We tried to find other places except writing center for Mac computer for us to work on our movie. We have no luck trying to find other place, so we decided to use the computers in writing center. In order to cooperate with my group mates’ time, we have very little time for the movie because writing center closes at 5pm. Despite all the obstacles we encountered, we still manage to finish our rough draft. We just need to add the other interview information to be done with the project. Everything is on track as of today, and I am already excited to see the final product!!

iMovie

I installed the newest version of OS for mac which was OS X leopard on my desktop.
But the iMovie it had was different from those at the writing center.
I couldn't load the project on my computer since they had the different versions.
I hope it helps for ohter mac users.

Our movie is almost done

So far, we are almost done with our project. Actually, I am surprised because of the work that we had done. Personally, when I received the handout for the project, I was worry because it seemed to be too difficult. I did not expect that we will be able to create a movie about the research’s argument. BUT, putting the movie together with my group is really fun, easy, and interesting. I learned a lot about imovie and how to argue by using media. I hope all of you have the same feeling.

I am very glad with the progress our group has made! I can't wait till presentation day to see everyone elses projects because it seems like everyone knows what they are doing. We had some problems with sound today, but hopefully we will be able to put the finishing touches on Monday.

We still have to perfect our flyer and make copies.

today we all saw half of our class movies and commented on their movies. I have realised that its not easy to make movie the best. you need to spend a lot of time and to do a lot of hard work and have to be creative.

Our topic is spanglish. So, we tried to include some interview in movie.
We took a video about example of spanglish and need to admit as official language through two persons conversation.However, we planned to make music video. Therefore, interview is not suitable formation in our imovie. As a result, we made our movie without using video camera.

Homeschooling IMovie

So today my group and I all met in the writing center to start finishing up our imovie. I am really pleased with how this project has come along. We just have to add in the music and do the end credits, and we should be good for wed. I can't wait to show our project! This has been a great experience and Im glad I got to learn new things using Imovie and incorporating C.R.A.P.and Maps in our movie. Everything makes so much sense now and I am happy that I can apply the concepts I learned to many other things now! Good luck everyone!

how was the last weekend? It was perfect. Our gruop met at main library on 1o'clock and moved to the places for pix of the projects. TIll then, we were not worried at all cause it was fun and we were doing well. But when we started operating the imovie in mac book, I thought all of us realized the thing that it's never gonna be easy as we expected. When we tried to record the voice we tried at least four times in different computers after trials we finally finished recording. It was cool but we started worring about the next steps. Like this, this project I think requires such a tolerate attitude in every process. It's still interesting. The most unconfortable thing is the fact that we can not borrow the mac book from the writing center. We keep finding more special and suitable pix in various ways and matching the pix and voice. It's not bed =)

Hi guys! Did you watch the Michigan vs. Michigan game last Saturday?

Anyways, the topic for our group was about cheating on football hand signaling.
Couple of you questioned under my post what will the gerne for our movie.
We decided to do a sports newscast. So basically there will be fakie studio and Patriots stadium and unprofessional anchors and field reporter, but very trying. ;-)
Last night, we video taped few scenes. It was very interesting and little bit nervous.

I was wondered how the CRAP elements will be fit into our newscast, and Carrie gave me some ideas to use the CRAP. Now we are almost done with video taping and we need editting process to be look nice and smooth and someway professional.

Our group is working on ADHD medication in early childhood through adolescent. We discussed how we are going to advertise our project to everyone. We also taped some of the videos and collected some of the picture that we need for our project. However, I think that our group needs some kinds of taping of professionals for providing the credibility to audience. So far, we are doing well and I wish the chair person in the psychiarty department will answer me.

Using Apple....

humm....I didn't realize how uncomfortable to using the i movie until today..
Me and our group members spent almost 5 hours today but we could not make single shot..
we did our voice over with Digital Camera!!!!! because it was impossible to save voice over as file. which means, it is impossible to move those to other computer.
I borrowed 2 lap tops from my friends and non of them was the newest version of i movie..
So, we planning to meet at the writing center tomorrow at 9:00 am.. because 2 of our group members' classes are finish at 5:00 pm. and as you already know, the writing centers close at 5:00 also. We are going to do great work anyway but I think it would be a lot better if we can use any program..

our group has alot of good ideas is so much fun. They interview people and i did not have the chance but, i will helped them alot I really want our movie to be a success. Their is tons of ideas flowing around but the hardest thing is putting them all together. I know that we will do fine because our paper was fun and succesfully finish.

My group is coming together in a positive way. We started our filming Thursday, and it went smooth. At first it was difficult, because one of our scenes requested something, and it was very difficult to solve it. At the end, I really enjoyed being apart of this group, and I can't wait until the movie is over.

Our project is going well so far. Really enjoyable.
For me, the moment to push the "record" button giving me a strong feeling that what i was doing was extremely interesting. hahaha. caz i never did this kinda things before. sometimes felt like im an actor, director or screenwriter. And i am a participator; make no mistake about that.
By doing this project, Robert felt our original Mode was changing. However, I think the dividing line between documentary mode and PSA was essentially not clear and abit merging into each other. Nobody chose PSA caz that is the most difficult one to write; but it had lots common points with Doc. What do u guys think?

we made two options for our group project.
First of all we will make each problems about communication without other cultures knowledges. Second, we will make advertisement using many communicate photos.
we will decide which one is more better soon and will make preview until sunday.

The Run Down for this week

I just wanted to give a heads up to the group that wasn't able to check out a camera yesterday.My group turned in our camera in yesterday, so if any other group that did not get to use a camera yet there should be one there to check out for the weekend. Anyway my groups imovie is coming a long and we are making a lot of progress. We are almost finished interviewing everyone and we are getting stuff together like pictures because it seems like time is running out. We did have a problem yesterday at the Writing Center. We have to convert our video footage because we used a different camera instead of the one that we were allowed to check out. No worries though the instructor showed one of our group members how to convert the files so that we can transfer them to imovie on the mac computers. Hopefully everybody project is coming along, good luck to everybody.

My Group's Experience At the Writing Center

Being at the Writing Center yesterday made my group think a lot about our topic. We realized that our topic about storefront business signs written in foreign language is only a tip of the iceberg of what we are trying to explain to our audience. Our topic is not just about these business anymore , it goes deeper than that.

When i talked to one of the instructors at the writing center yesterday he made me really think about my group's topic and we came up with some really interesting arguments about my group's topic. As a group we realized that our topic is about, communication and a lack of fluency in other languages. The instructor asked me a really great question. He said who's fault is it ?
At first I was going to say the business owners,but then I stopped myself and said it is the people and customers reading these signs that they don't understand.

They don't understand because they lack fluency in that specific language. Maybe Americans and others today need to make more of an effort to learn other languages. We then said maybe people who speak other languages think that there language is more superior than other languages and that's why people feel that is not necessary to learn other languages that is not their own. It is really hard to find a title to sum up what our documentary will be about. Does anyone have any ideas please feel free to let me know what you think, thanks.

Our group plans to add other material. At first time, we planed make music video. However, we would like to make some scenes using video carmera. Because we want to show you vivid example of spanglish, we will add interview.

Hi!

This information might be useful for those who uses Windows programms to create a movie. If your laptop does not have the video import jack to import video on it, you can use Macs. However, as you know, Mac's video has a different video format, so if you just import a video and try to copy it onto your laptop, it will not work. So, basically what you do is import a footage video onto Mac's iMovie, then go to Share - Export with QuickTime. This will convert the video into the format that can be recognized by any Windows PC. Hope someone finds it helpful.

I am really glad with the effort that each of our members has done so far. It really has helped take the pressure off and makes it better balanced. I am glad that we found videos online, and that the footage was imported into the computer. Next lab day will be very productive, and we should accomplish alot. Were going to try to break apart certain clips and show the pros of homeschooling. Hopefully it will work out the way we want it to.

The New or the Old Version

Last year, I worked on the old version of iMovie. The old version has many effects that the new version does not have. For example, you can add rain for your film as an effect. In addition, it has many features that the new version does not have. However, the new version is extremely easy to use while the old one is so complex and and hard to use.

The question is, should we use the new version , and make normal movies, or should we use the old one so our films will be more than professional?

After worked in writing center

the writing center helps alot.
however, becasue of the campus size, it is hard for me to stop by there whenever I need help.
but, I must not be lazy and go there daily so I will not earn lower than what I expect.
finally, my partner and I intereviewed someone and we got effetive idea from him.
Interviewing with someone for my movie was great experience. I have never imaged that I will
interview someone. but it's not bad at all. =p

Recording

Today me and my group started recording. We are recording a document on banning hip-hop lyrics. I had a hard time because I keep forgeting what to say and keep laughing, then I thought about how the actors have to remember their lines and its not that easy. It didnt take long for us to record, it was fun but different. I kinda of like this idea of recording now.

Our group

Because some limitations of the orginal paper, we have to change our orginal idea about the video. So we have a lot of work to do about the video. Interviews, pictures, information and so on. It must be busy and a challenge for us. Becasue we need to think about the title for our video, and it must conclude our main point. We also need to think about our main point for this video. The topic became deeper and deeper. So we need to control it well and do our best for the video.

Does anyone know somewhere to tape that looks clean and professional and can look like a news room or station in the background?

i was today sitting with my group and we are not using i-movie for our video,but we made video through the camera of wrac and then we palyed it on mac and then we copied it and played it on dell laptop and it worked over there. so we can tranfer our video that we made in the camera that we brought from wrac to our personal laptop or computer. it is not necessary to have mac or i-movie into our computer. you can play in real palyer.

Today Liberty and I imported public school video that we have at the Writing Center. So, the next time when we will go there to work on our project, everything will be FINE. Last Tuesday when we started working with iMovie, we were confused because it was difficult to put things together without having any footage. We were looking for homeschool children for more than a week but we did not find anyone. However, I was lucky yesterday when I found three homeschool videos. They include everything that we need for our project. I can see positive impression about these videos from my group members. I just want to tell the groups that they do not have videos yet to look for them in the internet. It might take a while, but I am sure that you will find what you need.
Also, Gary and Melissa came with very good ideas about the starting scene for our movie.Now, we are trying to figure out music that we will use for the project. I believe we can figure it out before the next lab day.

Our group had a conversation about our topic which is kind of changing from project number 2.
We realized that the issue was not only about business signs in foreign languages, but also about language fluency and cultural problem.
Now we are going into bigger issue that is happening everywhere in the states because the US is a multicultural country.

today in class my group members and i were having a very hard time with putting our project into place. we were helped out by one of the men that worked in the writing center. he was very helpful. the group is now more confident about the project and about how were going to start everything off. we used alot of his suggestions and were ready to go

C.R.A.P

After class yesterday, in my dorm room on the floor was this Domino's menu. The contrast is really strong because all you see is pizza and they are selling 3 pizzas for $5 dolars. As you look through the menu the repetiton of pizza is everywhere. All the text is center and the same color, the text thats not center is the same color to. The proximity does'nt confuse the reader, on the menu they have the big advertisement on the front and back but inside is all the cupons and other deals they offer for the pizza.

Blog for week of 10/29/07

Hey Everyone!
This week my group came up with some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, we were not able to find a homeschooled child that we could interview, however, we do have some footage of the public school aspect, in a urban school setting. We also came up with some ideas of what to include in our movie. We also got a chance to explore with IMovie in lab this week, which at times was stressful because we were a bit confused, but we were able to work our way through the program. Also, one of our group members found some homeschooling videos which will be very useful for our imovie! Thank you Hassan! So now we are on a good track, but if anyone has any ideas for music, we would like to put some childish but also learning environment approporate music in our movie so if anyone has any ideas could you please let me know! Does anyone know how to insert images into Imovie, I have tried everything that would that I know how to do. Drag and Drop didn't even work for me, It is becoming frustrating so if anyone can help.
